!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! got early pics of the new sedan and its a killer. Hyundai/Kia has been killing it design wise lately and the latest Optima is no exception . Its honestly visually striking and should make the midsize sedan battle more interesting . No details yet on engine choices, but expect it to mirror the new 2020 Sonata. Also there is no interior pics yet but from the interior sketch, the inside should be stunning as well.

Des anyone else see Peugeot 508?

That.., is a very fine looking automobile.

Exactly what i thought

Yes. Just smaller and cheaper...and with a 7 year warranty.

Mid size is battling for survival rather than battling each other...at the moment. But Kia is being clever here.

Definitely . Which isnt a bad thing either.

They are doing good. Not like they used to but I wouldn’ t say its on life support. They still manage to sell over 100k Optima’s per year. This should keep that pace.

Agreed.

Korean Charger . It looks like an egg.

Looks good from here, though at that point, they really should just make it a liftback.
![]() 11/12/2019 at 09:14 |

Let’s be honest, damn near any “sedan” that’ s come out in the last five years would serve better as a liftback.

Looks beastly!

Eh.... that last image looks like all of the worst parts of a Maxima mated with a new Accord...and the result wasn’t good.
I’d need to see it in person, but so far, bleh.

Oh man, the design is fantastic - except for the front end.
Those lights and lower bumper are not my cup of tea. It came so close to me really liking it!

There’s too much chrome everywhere.
That chrome strip seems clever but I bet it will look dated very very quickly. And the interior... blergh. It'd have been fine with a minimal amount of chrome, not this shiny bukkake.

It looks like a Kia Optima... inspired by a Lincoln MKZ.
I hop they bring both the Sonata N and Optima GT(rumored with AWD) stateside soon because they might just end up on my next car list

Too bad the only ones of these are gonna be base model LX sedans with manual seats, a key to start, basic wheels, and “no smoking” stickers on the dash.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a loaded Sonata sedan since the 2018 redesign.
![]() 11/12/2019 at 12:15 |

I maintain that Hyundai and Kia are making the best looking sedans right now. Everything else is too agro or anime.

The front comes across as sort of similar but in a next gen kind of way Cadenza.
![]() 11/12/2019 at 12:42 |
|
Yea I can see that in the rear.
Yea I hope both of those come soon, because they will be on my next car list. Will be hard to pick over a Stinger though.

Sadly you might be right. I see a fair amount of loaded Optima’ s running around, but the bulk are base rental grade models.
With the Sonata redesign for ‘18, I see more SEL and Sport models running around then outright loaded ones.

Ive been saying this too. They are killing it. Everything else is like you mentioned, or trying to hard to be too sporty or too luxury or something. And then only certain trim levels can pull off the look.
![]() 11/12/2019 at 12:54 |
|
Yeah I didn’t like the Cadenza either.

Really? I find it handsome. Pics don’ t do it justice. It looks better in person. And from afar, it illicits stares of “what kind of car is that?”.

I’m looking forward to the interior. The materials choice will be critical. I’m not too worried about the infotainment. Kia has been making a pretty good system.
![]() 11/12/2019 at 15:35 |

Yea Im really wondering how the interior is going to look. I find it weird they just released pics of the exterior first.

Not sure I’d at all agree that this is one of the best designs right now. That chrome trim piece going backwards is especially awkward, the taillights are odd, and that front grill has way too much going on.
I like the Mercedes E300 Luxury line the most as far as sedans right now in terms of a clean style, plus that classy star.
![]() 11/12/2019 at 16:53 |

I agree I don’ t like the chrome. But its daring for a family sedan and that’ s whats good. I’ m hoping on a sporty S or SX trim that all that chrome gets Blacked out.

“everything else is too anime”
bruh this is the most anime looking pile of shit on the market right now.
Such a damn shame because the pre-facelift looked amazing.

Hm I don't think I've seen it in person.... I'll see what I feel like once I come across one.

“most anime thing on the market right now”
Well... *gestures at Toyota’s entire lineup*
